It’s time once again for Current Archaeology magazine’s annual awards.
Categories include:
- Archaeologist of the Year
- Rescue Dig of the Year
- Books of the Year
- Research Project of the Year
- The Jeffrey May Award, which exists to encourage new contributions to Current Archaeology and Current World Archaeology. Many of the winners in the past have been from amateur groups or local archaeological societies.

Where’s Petraglia or all the other archaeologists (Rose, Armitage…) who have been (still are) unveiling one of the most exciting episodes of human prehistory: the migration out of Africa? Where is J. Baena who lead the recent discovery of Mousterian (and hence likely Neanderthal survivors) 15,000 years after it was supposed to be over? I do not even know who those three nominated guys are.
