Artist Jane Tomlinson’s exhibition of paintings in early May defied credit-crunch gloom with a bumper number of visitors turning out to both browse and buy.

Jane’s painting of the Uffington white horse, dragon hill and the manger was widely admired:

Jane exhibited recent paintings of wildlife on a Darwinian theme, but also paintings of stones and ancient monuments which are a recurring theme in her work. As well as a biologist, Charles Darwin was a talented geologist and his interest in earth sciences inspired Jane to make a new collection of paintings on a theme of pebbles:

Jane was especially delighted when archaeologist, historian and author Gerald Ponting, who has studied Callanish in detail, arrived to admire her paintings.
