It is now almost four months since the Minelab company announced a huge increase in the depth to which detectors can reach. There has been no official reaction so we have today sent the following open letter to the Archaeology Forum, a group of important independent bodies concerned with the management and interpretation of archaeology, in the hope they will do more than look the other way.
