A weekend of walks and talks in West Penwith has just been announced, planned for the late May Bank Holiday weekend, May 26th 10,00am to 10pm May 27th 11am to 9pm. The details are as follows:
Saturday May 26th 10am to 12,30pm A walk Through Time.
A guided walk with researcher Barry Reilly around the Sancreed area. Meet at Sancreed Beacon lay-by.
May 26th 2pm to 4.30pm Sacred Sites and Settlements.
A guided walk with David Giddings to Lanyon and West Lanyon Quiots, Bosiliack Barrow & the recently escavated Bosiliack settlement. Meet in farmyard at Lanyon Farm.
May 26th 8pm to 10pm Hunter Gatherer communities in SW Britain.
An illustrated talk with Paul Bonnington at the Count House Botallack.
Sunday May 27th 11pm to 12.30pm Stories in Ancient Stones.
Cheryl Straffon explores the legends and accounts of strange happenings at ancient sites. At Count House Botallack.
May 27th 2pm to 4.30pm The Mysterious Fogous & Other Sites.
A guided walk with archaeologist Adrian Rodda visiting sites from Pendeen to Lower Boscawell & back. Meet Pendeen Lighthouse (car park)
May 27th 8pm to 9pm Recent Excavations & Finds.
With Andy Jones fron the Historic Environment Service. Upstairs room North Inn Pendeen.
Each individual event costs £3, but is free to members of FOCAS (Friends of Cornwall’s Ancient Sites). You can join FOCAS (£5 unwaged or £8 waged) at the beginning of any individual event, or by contacting FOCAS in advance via their web site.
