We’ve previously enthused about community archaeology at Tinkinswood in the Vale of Glamorgan.  As  Cadw’s community archaeologist  Ffion Reynolds said about it:
we wanted to reach younger audiences to help them value their local heritage. As future guardians of the historic environment, we knew we had to make Tinkinswood meaningful for schoolchildren by relating the past to the present at both a practical and emotional level.”

Here’s a superb video of their latest efforts….  It would be great to see the same sort of thing at other prehistoric sites all over Britain and Ireland.

It’s a fair bet those kids won’t end up chalking graffiti on monuments or riding their mountain bikes on earthworks. Some of them might even grow up to campaign against the building of houses round hill forts!
