Well thanks goodness for that. I thought for a moment that Shropshire Council and Historic England (aka English Heritage) were being dishonest, dishonourable and bringing the profession of archaeology/cultural heritage into disrepute. I mean, they are going to follow national guidance on setting and observe the importance of place….aren’t they? And…..they are not being pressured by National Government to fulfil the housing quota (at whatever cost). And….more poignantly, they not being totally undemocratic by allowing their so-called professionals to take the final decisions.
