Notification to the Competition and Markets Authority
We wish to report to the Authority a case of anti-competitive behaviour.
Our Name: The Heritage Journal
Business we are raising issues about? The English Heritage Trust
Which market do you think the issue is in? Heritage Tourism
Nature of issue:
An attempt is being made by English Heritage to create a near monopoly in their own favour by supporting the hiding of the free view of Stonehenge from tens of millions of people, thereby leaving anyone who wishes to see the stones at all little option other than to go to the English Heritage site and pay £19.

Yes I agree with you that EH are trying to create a monopoly of the view of Stonehenge to suit their own completely selfish financial interests. What they are doing is historically unjustifiable as the unique and priceless historic landscape around Stonehenge will be damaged by the tunnel. In particular, Blick Mead in the East which is helping to unlock the secrets as to how ancient hunter-gatherers evolved into the culture that built this unique area. And in the west the densest concentration of Neolithic burial mounds in the UK, which according to Mike Parker Pearson will reveal enormous amounts about why Stonehenge was built. EH are behaving absolutely appallingly and should immediately withdraw their support for the tunnel before their reputation gets even more tarnished. The UK must not let this vandalism, masquerading as a historical improvement, continue. Yours sincerely, Paul Gossage.
