Dan Walker shouting “Show us youuurrrr coooinnnn” – cue “woop, woop” from assembled detectorists.”

I’m saying nowt. It’s Britain’s version of amateur archaeology innit, and “the show has been built with the guidance of @findsorguk“.

I’m not even sure the people in the tent were detectorists. You can see most of the people in the field are middle aged men with beer guts, the crowd in the tent include women and kids. It can be seen that this was filmed late in the evening (dark sky outside tent) and this was a rent-a-crowd for the cheering and whooping and to suggest detecting is more “inclusive” than it actually is. The trailer suggests something awful and I suspect will put many prospective viewers off (so much for the archaeologists’ claims “we’ve had real editorial control […] throughout the show”).
