Historic England has highlighted 23 listed gems added to the National Heritage List for England (NHLE) this year. Here’s one in Ropner Park, Stockton-on-Tees: a flamboyant Victorian fountain manufactured by one of the best-known companies in the world for ornamental ironwork.
Bravo! But imagine if it was deliberately hidden from almost everyone except those who paid! That would be farcical. Yet that’s exactly what Historic England is supporting for Stonehenge!
