Scottish Ministers have commissioned an appraisal on the future of the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland. The aim will be “to undertake a strategic options appraisal on the future delivery of RCAHMS core functions” by early 2012.
Cabinet Secretary for Culture and External Affairs Fiona Hyslop gave a reassurance that “The Scottish Government is committed to maintaining the important work of the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS) in recording, maintaining and making accessible information on Scotland’s built environment“.
However, there is no indication at this stage as to whether “a strategic options appraisal on the future delivery of core functions” will lead to the maintenance of all of those core functions at current levels.
